A podcast explores how Generation Z is redefining design, innovation and territorial engagement in Morocco. Not through theoretical discourse, but through factual analysis of what they do, what they expect, and what they reject.

The central question: “What if Gen Z were not just a generation of revolt, but also a generation of solutions?”

This question refuses the standard media caricature — Gen Z presented either as a lost generation (screens, individualism, disengagement) or as a militant generation (revolt, contestation, rejection of the system). Both narratives are incomplete. They describe symptoms without understanding what produces them.

Gen Z: Revolt or Solutions?

Generation Z does not simply criticize. It builds. Not according to inherited models — stable employment, linear career, respected hierarchy — but according to other logics: punctual projects, horizontal collaborations, assumed autonomy.

This way of working is not laziness or escapism. It is an adaptation to a world where stability is no longer guaranteed, where linear trajectories no longer exist, where the most relevant competencies are transversal. Gen Z has internalized this reality faster than the institutions that are supposed to train it.

Design as a Generation Z Tool

Design interests Gen Z because it is, by nature, a transversal practice. It connects technical and cultural, aesthetic and functional, individual and collective. It does not fit into a single disciplinary box. It moves between fields. This mobility corresponds to a Gen Z way of being in the professional world.

Furthermore, design offers a methodology applicable far beyond the traditional scope of objects or visual communication. Problem identification, ideation, prototyping, iteration, evaluation: these are universal processes applicable to social, territorial, educational, or civic challenges.

Territorial Innovation: A Gen Z Priority

One of the most striking characteristics of the Moroccan Gen Z in this analysis is its relationship to territory. Unlike the previous generation — which often sought to leave Morocco to develop professionally — Gen Z, or at least a significant portion of it, wants to work on Morocco, from Morocco.

This is not nationalism. It is pragmatism. Morocco is a territory with exceptional density of unsolved problems — which means exceptional density of design opportunities. Infrastructure, mobility, waste, water, urban food, local crafts, cultural heritage: all fields where creative, technological and social innovation can have measurable impact.
